Tranquil 1992’s former venue returns with a new identity in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter.
Following the successful opening of its expanded Vietnamese specialty coffee shop in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, Tranquil 1992 is set to reopen its original venue at 87 Vyse Street on Thursday, 8 January 2026, unveiling Tranquil 1992 After Hours — a cosy wine bar inspired by the brand’s signature Western–Asian fusion, reimagined for relaxed evenings.
Created as an intimate evening destination, Tranquil 1992 After Hours brings a fresh concept to Birmingham’s nightlife. The venue offers a carefully curated selection of independent wines from local suppliers, alongside imported Japanese plum wine (umeshu) and Vietnamese beer, celebrating both local craftsmanship and East Asian drinking culture.
The bar’s atmosphere is defined by its artistic, laid-back interior and a carefully selected soundtrack ranging from modern jazz to house, played exclusively on vinyl, creating a warm and immersive experience. Designed for those who want to unwind, connect, and enjoy something different, the space is ideal for relaxed networking, casual dates, or unhurried evenings with friends.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the new concept, the founder of Tranquil 1992 – Thang Nguyen said:
“As a wine lover myself, I’m always looking for a quirky modern jazz bar where I can relax and genuinely communicate with people. It’s surprisingly difficult to find a local indie wine bar in central Birmingham, and we saw this as a real gap in the market. By bringing in quirky, characterful wines, we hope Tranquil 1992 After Hours becomes part of the Jewellery Quarter’s community — a place not just for Brummies, but for visitors and tourists as well.”
