Breaking down barriers to make golf more accessible for all

Birmingham’s premier indoor golf venue, SKRATCH GOLF, is set to host a unique Ryder Cup-style match between SKRATCH GOLF and the England & Wales Blind Golf Association (E&WBGA) on Saturday 27th September 2025.

The event will see two teams of 12 players compete head-to-head in a Ryder Cup format using SKRATCH GOLF’s state-of-the-art simulators. This showcase isn’t just about competition — it’s about raising awareness of how innovative facilities like SKRATCH can make golf more inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.

“Golf has traditionally had barriers for people who might not see it as a sport for them. Our mission at SKRATCH is to break those down — whether through technology, coaching, or by working with amazing organisations like the E&WBGA. This match is about showing that golf truly can be a game for all,” said Alex Smith, General Manager of SKRATCH GOLF.

The Ryder Cup atmosphere promises drama, team spirit, and competitive edge — but the bigger picture is highlighting how golf can adapt and open its doors to wider communities. The E&WBGA has been at the forefront of championing visually impaired golf, and this collaboration with SKRATCH GOLF aims to inspire more venues, players, and organisations to embrace inclusivity.
