Manish Jogia, owner of the region’s most awarded independent jeweller Sonny’s Jewellers, along with luxury boutique JQ Diamonds, has officially completed the acquisition of Newey’s Jewellers at the end of this year. The move further reinforces his commitment to the growth and future of Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.

The acquisition carries personal significance for Jogia. When he opened Sonny’s a decade ago, Newey’s was his next-door neighbour, and the two businesses developed a warm, collaborative relationship with the previous owners over the years.

“When we opened Sonny’s ten years ago, Newey’s was our neighbour, and we built a great working relationship during that time,” said Manish Jogia. “When the opportunity came to take the business forward, it felt like a natural fit. I’m excited to work with the team and shape the next chapter together.”

Newey’s Jewellers – operating from its established location within the Jewellery Quarter – now becomes part of Jogia’s growing family of jewellery brands. While long-term plans and full potential are still being evaluated, Jogia emphasises that the focus will be on understanding the team, the clients and the existing operations before making major decisions.

“Our people are at the centre of everything,” Jogia said. “We have a clear direction in mind, but before implementing any significant changes we want to spend time learning, listening and building on the strengths that already exist.”

To ensure continuity for clients and partners, previous directors John and Angela have remained with the business, with John continuing his work as a master goldsmith, and Angela taking on a senior client advisory role, bringing her extensive experience and trusted relationships into the next chapter of the brand.

To mark the acquisition and bring the team and partners together, a celebration is planned for early next year, with further details to follow.

The addition of Newey’s complements the strong momentum of Jogia’s other businesses. Sonny’s Jewellers has grown into one of the region’s most celebrated independent jewellers, recognised for its bespoke craftsmanship, exceptional customer service and innovation – and most recently awarded Independent Retailer of the Year and Retail Team of the Year. Meanwhile, JQ Diamonds has quickly become a destination in its own right, emerging as a hub for prestigious brands such as Fabergé, Yoko London and WOLF 1834, alongside its bespoke diamond and gemstone offering.

“The Jewellery Quarter remains one of the most exciting and high-potential districts in the UK jewellery industry,” Jogia added. “I’m proud to continue investing here and to contribute to the area’s ongoing evolution and success.”
