Friday 13th November 2026 | 5pm–7pm | Golden Square, Jewellery Quarter | Free event

Christmas is set to officially arrive in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter on Friday 13th November, as the Golden Square comes alive for the annual Jewellery Quarter Christmas Light Switch-On.
The free evening event will bring together festive entertainment, live music, food and drink, and a spectacular fireworks display, with the Christmas lights being switched on at 6pm by a special guest.
Visitors can enjoy live performances from two acts from The Jam House: The Black Jeans and Heavy Beat Brass Band, bringing plenty of energy to the celebrations.
The Black Jeans will perform their popular ‘Best of Birmingham’ set, celebrating some of the city’s biggest musical names and bands across the decades, including Black Sabbath, Dexys Midnight Runners, Duran Duran, ELO, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, UB40 and Ocean Colour Scene. Their lively set promises plenty of familiar favourites and singalong moments.
Joining them will be Heavy Beat Brass Band, they are passionate about bringing the vibrant, soulful sounds of Mardi Gras music to life, just as it was meant to be played. Comprising six young, professional musicians, their band has been personally mentored by Keith Frazier of New Orleans’ own Rebirth Brass Band. Whether on stage, in the streets, at festivals, or during parades, they deliver electrifying performances that never hold back. Their music aims to uplift and bring positivity to our audiences, creating unforgettable experiences with every note.
As the evening builds towards the big switch-on, surrounding cafés, bars and venues will also be getting into the festive spirit, serving up a selection of Christmas-inspired food and drinks for visitors to enjoy while taking in the celebrations. A food trader will also be joining the festivities, serving a selection of delicious food for visitors to enjoy throughout the evening, adding even more flavour to the Christmas celebrations.
The evening will culminate in the 6pm Christmas light switch-on, followed by a spectacular firework display, creating a festive start to the Christmas season in the Jewellery Quarter.
With music, festive food and drink, Christmas lights and fireworks all packed into one evening, the event is an opportunity for residents, businesses and visitors to come together and celebrate the start of the festive season in one of Birmingham’s most distinctive neighbourhoods.
