The Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood Forum and The Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID) are delighted to announce they have been jointly awarded £34,500 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to deliver an exciting new community project — Finding Your Way in the Jewellery Quarter.
This initiative will make it easier for residents, visitors, and workers to navigate and feel at home in one of Birmingham’s most distinctive neighbourhoods. The funding will support several key improvements across the area, including:
- New wayfinding signs and maps to make exploring the Jewellery Quarter simpler and more enjoyable.
- A dedicated residents’ welcome website offering everything you need to know about living in the Jewellery Quarter.
- Community postcards and welcome resources to help every new neighbour feel part of the JQ from day one.
The Finding Your Way project grew directly from resident feedback during last year’s community consultation, demonstrating how local voices continue to shape the future of the area. What began as an idea shared at a forum meeting has now become a fully funded initiative ready to deliver real change.
“This funding is a fantastic example of what we can achieve together as a community,” said Luke Crane, CEO of the Jewellery Quarter BID. “The project will not only make the area easier to navigate but will also strengthen the sense of belonging that makes the Jewellery Quarter so special.”
“As thousands of new neighbours arrive in the Jewellery Quarter, this project will help them discover what makes this place so special. Working with the Jewellery Quarter BID we want to help people to connect, find new friends, explore the area’s incredible culture and history, and feel at home. The Jewellery Quarter’s story has been unfolding for more than 200 years, and we want everyone to feel part of its next chapter.” said Jimmy Clarke, Chair, Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood Forum.
The project will launch in the coming months, with installation of the first new signage and online resources expected in early 2026.
